I am a RESOLVE infertility support Helpline Volunteer.
In addition, I am the leader of a RESOLVE Peer Led Support Group in Brighton, MI, which is held on the third Monday of every month at the Brighton District Library. I also lead nationwide support groups for those who are still trying to build their families. Due to the pandemic, all of my support groups are held via ZOOM. Please contact me for more information.
For the graduates of my general infertility support group. I lead a Pregnancy & Parenting After Infertility Group w/Experiences and Support (PAIGES) The issues and anxiety facing mothers-to-be and brand new mothers after they have struggled with infertility is unique. Often pregnancy feels surreal and a woman worries that she could miscarry. These women don’t really fit into the fertile world, and yet they don’t fit into the infertility world either. My group is a compassionate next step for those who still need support. When it is safe enough to resume gathering in person, it is my hope that we will be able to meet at local parks and playgrounds so that the moms can connect and the toddlers can play.
Why join?
When I first joined RESOLVE during the throes of my battle with infertility, I initially did NOT want to go to a support group. I didn't want to be a member of "this club," as I didn't know for sure if I really had an infertility problem. I was scared and overwhelmed. But I also knew I needed support. What I discovered was a group of intelligent and articulate infertility warriors who soon became my lifeline. I learned so much from this group of men and women and I learned that I was NOT alone. I was able to get the best advice from people who understood what infertility was all about. I was able to cry and be real with these friends... and believe it or not, I was even able to laugh a bit too. It was a great stress relief to be able to be among a group of individuals who truly "got it." What's more, studies show that if people are struggling with infertility, they have a 54% increased chance of becoming pregnant and having a child if they join a support group. Take a look at this video and you will see how invaluable joining a RESOLVE group is.
